PAIR

Peers Actively Involved in Rehabilitation

Brain Injury Peer Support

PAIR connects individuals with lived experience to offer guidance, encouragement, and understanding.

What is PAIR?

The peer support program was created by the CEDAR Brain Injury Lab at UBC and Nanaimo Brain Injury Society. The partnership is continuing and expanding, with a new provincial peer support research project across multiple sites in British Columbia.

Who is this for?

The PAIR program is for people living with brain injury who want to receive or provide peer support. This website offers training modules, and resources for organizations interested in starting a peer support program.

How does this program work?

Participants are matched with a peer support worker. Pairs meet weekly on Zoom for 60 minutes over 12 weeks. They talk about life after brain injury, navigating new emotions, support groups, and reconnecting with the community.
